Joan of Arc is actually the first in what they're hoping to be a series of Wars & Warriors games centered around various heroes through the ages. This particular game follows the major players in the conflict Joan of Arc was a part of during the drawn out Hundred Years War. But don't worry kiddos, you don't really have to learn anything here to have fun, we wouldn't want to stick information into your head that doesn't involve sex, money, or humuhumunukunukuapua'a. The historical presence of the game is mostly backdrop and is often presented in the text briefings before missions.
There are quite a few characters from actual history here, but the accuracy of events, terrain, and relationships receive a healthy dosing of tweaks to keep the fun and make gameplay as interesting as possible. Be careful though, there's just enough information to potentially peak some players' interest in learning more. A dangerous proposition to be sure.
The game begins after Joan has heard voices for the first time (which now would just get you thrown in the looney bin, but back in the 1400's gets you a new suit of armor and shiny sword from a King in waiting) and visited the dauphin Charles VII, who sits in Chinon hoping to gain the throne from occupying England.
